Too Much Love, Not Enough Time Part. 13

Miguel smiles at Yolanda as she explores the apartment. He cooks the fajitas and the chimichangas. After that, he goes towards Yolanda to serve her food. Yolanda was surprised by the food. “It smells so good. she said. Thank you.” he said. Why don’t you take a bite? You may like it even more.” he said. She takes a bite of the fajitas.  “Oh my God!” she said reacting to the explosion of flavor. Miguel laughs at her reaction. “This really good.” she continues, “This reminds me of when my favorite restaurant opened when I was seven.” “Really?” he said, “You have been a fan of Nana’s place ever since yo were seven?” “Yeah. This reminds me a lot of when it opened for the first time.” she said. Miguel smiles. “How did you learn how to cook like that?” she said. “My Nana taught me.” he said. “Wow!” she said, “She can really cook.” “Thank you.” he said.

They talked for hours. “So… You seem to make a great living from bartending.” she said. “It has it’s perks.” he said. “I see.” she said. “I wish I could have something to drink.” she said subconsciously. “Oh… I’m sorry. How rude of me. What kind of drink would you like?” he said. “I would like some sweet tea, if you have it.” she said. He goes into the kitchen to make a glass of sweet tea. (Phew, luckily, I made some before she came.) he thinks. He collects ice from the ice dispenser and poured some sweet tea in the glass. He gives it to Yolanda. “Thank you.” she said. She drinks the tea. “Wow, this is really good too!” she said. “I love the tea. I wonder can I have this for work?” she asks. “The tea?” he asks. “Yeah.” she said. “I have a flask that hasn’t been used. I can pour the tea in there.” he said. “I would love that.” she said.

He goes to grab the flask and pours tea in it. He gives it to her. “Thank you.” they hang out and play video games. Yolanda smiles at Miguel. “Well, you are very good at games.” “It’s the only thing that winds me down from a hard days work.” Miguel said reacting to Yolanda’s statement. day turned into night. Miguel bids her goodnight. “Oh, I didn’t know that it was that late.” she said. “Yeah, sort of…” he said. “Well, I’ll talk to you later.” she said. “Okay.” he said. She leaves to go home. She makes it home and smiles at the outing. she begins to blush at Miguel’s sharp features. (Maybe, I am starting to fall in love with him.) she thinks. Miguel cleans his dishes and packed the other food for tomorrow. He takes a shower and goes to bed.

Miguel looks into a marketing firm. (I can’t really do too much of the research because I don’t have the restaurant opened yet.) he thinks. (“So far I may have to go with Greenlight Marketing. After operating the restaurant, he does some bartending and gives his workers a light drink. “Thanks boss.” they said. “Great work, you guys.” he said. They are very happy. After the restaurant hours were over, Miguel closes up shop. (Jesus, I’m tired.) he thinks. He goes to his apartment after flagging down a taxi. He goes to his apartment door and unlocks it. He goes inside. He takes a warm shower and unwinds for the rest of the day. “Pretty soon, I will be able to hire restaurant managers. Then, I won’t have to personally manage the restaurants.” he said out loud to himself. He looks at TV. I should game for a couple of hours.” he said out of boredom. He begins to play a game. After playing for 6 hours straight, he cuts off the game and goes to sleep.

The Next Day…

Yolanda gets ready to go to work. She works her hours and leave early. She calls Miguel. Miguel wakes up from his sleep. He answers the phone. [ “Hello.” he said. “Hey, Miguel.” Yolanda said. “Yolanda.” he said in excitement. “I got off early. Wanna hang out?” she said. “Sure.” he said, “Come over to my place.” “Uh…” she said, a little hesitant. “You know as a friend.” he said, laughing at her hesitation, “What do you think we were going to do?” Yolanda’s face turns red from embarrassment. “I-I-I don’t know. You tell me.” Yolanda said. She could feel Miguel smile over the phone. “So, where do I meet you?” she said. “Meet me at the restaurant.” he said. She thinks about it. “Okay. Sure.” she said after thinking about it. She goes to meet him. It takes her an hour to get there. Miguel waits by the restaurant door. Yolanda gets out of the car. She sees Miguel. His appearance shocks her. he wears a white t-shirt and a dark plaid flannel and relaxed jeans. his hair was tied back in a messy bun.

She noticed his clear framed glasses on his face. “Miguel?” she said. He looks up and instantly smiles when he sees her. “Ready to go to the apartment?” he asks. “I guess.” she said. “I won’t do anything.” Miguel said. “I’ll trust you.” she said. They go to the apartment. Miguel opens the door and the apartment was very clean. “Have you eaten?” he asks. “No I haven’t.” she said gazing around the apartment.”Well, I’ll cook fajitas.” he said, “and chimichangas.” He begins to cook. Yolanda is surprised by his efforts. (Wow, it’s like we are actually on a date.) she thinks.

Too Much Love, Not Enough Time Part. 11

After work, Yolanda goes home. On her way home, she thinks about Miguel. (“Why am I thinking about Miguel?”) she thinks out loud to herself. She arrives home. She parks her car in the driveway and turns off her car. She puts her head on the steering wheel. “Oh, my God.” she said punishing herself for her thoughts. Suddenly, she takes her head off the steering wheel. (“Come on, Yolanda. There is no other guy you rather be with than Jose.”) she thinks out loud. to herself.

*That’s right! I love Jose. Even though he hurt me, I will show him that I am meant to be in his life.*

She goes into her home. She unwinds and drinks some wine. She thinks about calling Miguel. (“Oh not again.”) she thinks out loud to herself and is frustrated at her thoughts. She sits on the sofa and looks at her pre-recorded soap operas. “I just don’t understand. Why am I constantly worried about Miguel? About what he’s doing and does he even have a girlfriend?!” she said to herself. Her curiosity makes it so hard for her to focus on what’s on her soap operas. (Maybe a phone call wouldn’t hurt.) she thinks. She gets her cellphone and calls Miguel. Miguel walks around San Juan when he notices his phone rings. He connects his Bluetooth to his phone and picks it up.

[“Hello.” he said. “Hello.” Yolanda said. “May I kindly ask who this is?” he asks. “Yolanda.” she said shyly. “Hey, Yolanda. It’s nice to speak to you again!” he said excitedly. “Hey.” she said. “What gives me the pleasure of speaking to you, today?” Miguel said. “I was wondering what you are doing?” she said. Hust going him from work. he said. “Oh I see.” she said, “I just got off work too We didn’t make the quota for this week and hoping to work towards adjusting the companies rate to meet the quota.” “Oh… that must be tough.” Miguel said. “More or less.” she said. “Well, I hope you guys make the quota this week.” Miguel said. “Yeah, I do too.” she said. “You seem pressured. Do you want to hang out sometime?” he said. Yolanda was shocked by the proposal. “Umm. Sure, I would like that.” she said. *What are you saying? I thought that you like Jose!* “That’s great. I will work tomorrow but I will take you out, say, on the weekend?” he asks. “Okay.” she said. “Okay, cool, see ya then.” he said. He hangs up.]

he goes home and continues to do research.

The Next Day…

[“Alright! Thank you so much.” Miguel said, “Please bring as many properties to me, Ms. Maria.” “I will, Mr. Ortega.” Maria said. “I’m counting on you.” he said. He hangs up.] (The interview went smoothly! Now to pen up a new restaurant location.) he thinks.

*Nana, I’m going to make this restaurant global.*

Too Much Love, Not Enough Time Part. 10

Miguel thinks about what Isabella just said. “Sure! Let’s open up a new store.” Miguel said. “Alright!” Isabella said in excitement. “If this location goes well then I will see if I can open up another location in California.” Miguel said. “Really?” Isabella said, “In the United States?” “Yes!” Miguel said, “I want to be able to build on Nana’s legacy.” Isabella smiles at Miguel’s enthusiasm. (It’s only been a year since Miguel has graduated from Harvard and taken over Nana’s restaurant. He even started early so I can focus on my acting career. He’s the best brother I ever had in my life.) Isabella thinks.

*I am worried about what is it that he really wants.*

Miguel noticed his sister in deep thought. “What’s wrong?” he asks. “Nothing.” she said. “Okay. Let’s look for a place to open up a shop!” he said. “Right, I’ll call a realtor.” she said. “Okay.” get sad=ud, She calls a realtor right away. [“Hello, My name is Maria. How can I help you?” Maria said. “I’m looking to open up a restaurant in another location.” “Okay. I will pull up some properties. Can you schedule an interview with me about the financial status of the current location of your restaurant?” Maria said. “Sure.” Isabella said. “Tomorrow at 2:00pm is a good time for you?” Maria said. “Yes, that’s a great time.” she said. “You want it in person or over the phone?” Maria said. “Uh…” Isabella said, “Hold on.” Isabella looks at Miguel. “Do you want it over the phone or in-person?” Isabella asks Miguel. “The interview?” Miguel said. “Yeah.” “Over the phone. Make sure to give her my number.” he said. Isabella tells Maria what Miguel said. “Okay. I have you down for tomorrow at 2:00pm. Talk to you then.” she said.

“Alright. Talk to you soon.” she said. Miguel searches for his blue light filter. He finds them. He puts them on and begins to search for marketing services. “I want a lot of people to be at the new location. I’m going to talk to the best marketing consultants out there.” he said. “Don’t spend too much.” Isabella said. “Of course.” Miguel said. He begins spending the day researching and talking to consultants.

The Next Day…

“I have talked to every last company that has done business with us and they all have said that they don’t want to go through with the services because it’s too damn high. ” Yolanda said to Diana. “Are you going to tell Jose?” Diana asks. “Yeah.” she said. She goes to tell Jose. “What?” Jose said, “That’s ridiculous.” “That is what they are saying.” Yolanda said, “I think we need to listen to them.” Jose thinks about it. “Present a new monthly fee of $200 basic package, $400 standard package, and $600 premium package.” “Okay.” she said, “The team is on it.” They spend the whole day updating their website.

Too Much Love, Not Enough Time Part. 9

Yolanda drives all the way home. She pus the car in park and turns it off. She gets out of the car and shuts the door behind her. She goes inside her house and shuts the door. (It’s late.) she thinks. She hurries for bed. She takes a quick shower and speeds through hour night skincare routine. She finishes her routine and goes to bed.

Next Morning…

“Man, I’m tired.” she said hearing the alarm clock ring. (Every single day!) she thinks in irritation. She goes to her kitchen and makes granola yogurt for breakfast. After that, she gets ready for her daily routine and puts on minimum makeup. She puts on her shoes and gets ready to go to work. Jose’s business was slow and he wasn’t pleased by the numbers. “What happened to our biggest client?” he asks Diego. “They decided not to go through with the deal, anymore.” Diego said. “What?” Jose said in disbelief. “How are we going to meet this week’s quota?” Jose said. “We will advertise to get new clients in.” Diego said with confidence. Hose thinks about it and smiles at the idea. “Okay fine.” he said quietly.

Diego leaves his office. (That was the only client that would pay the big bucks for brand relevancy.) he thinks. Yolanda does her tasks as assigned. She calls other companies for a follow-up. Each one told her that they were not interested. (What is going on here?) she thinks.

*Does that mean that we would potentially not meet the quota for this week?*

She goes to Jose’s office. He looks at her. “I’ve come to drop off the daily report.” she said. She drops it off. She begins to walk out of the office. “Yolanda?” he calls. “Yes.” she said, wondering what it was that he wanted. “Did the companies said that they would follow through with our services?” “No, sir. They all declined.” she said answering his question. He looks down at the floor trying to digest what was being said. “Could you find out why?” he asks. (That’s Diego’s job.) she thinks irritated. “Yes, sir.” she said hiding her true feelings. She goes back to her desk. Diana notices the frustration on her face. “What’s wrong, Yolanda?” she said. “Well… Jose is getting on my nerves.” she said. “That’s rare.” Diana said. “Yeah, I know.” she said, “He assigned me Diego’s job.” she said. “Oh, probably not meeting the quota.” Diana said. Yolanda thinks quietly.

Meanwhile…

“Miguel?” a voice said. “Yes, Isabella.” he said paying the restaurant’s bills in advance. “I was thinking, since the restaurant is doing so well, we can open up a new location.” she said. Miguel thinks about it. (Another store location, huh?) he thinks.

*Nana would be proud.*

S.M.R. News: I’m BACK!!

I am back and back writing stories again. I was slightly burned out. I couldn’t write a single thing. I’m still ghostwriting and writing my very first short story that is going to be on Wattpad. It’s called Bo-Taun: Protector of the Galaxy. I am so excited. It seems like Too Much Love, Not Enough Time is unwinding to become a book or something. Wow, my very first book on this website. lol. I was thinking about having it on Wattpad also. It will be finished here before I move on to working towards anything else. However, I was not expecting Too Much Love, Not Enough Time to be this long. But it seems like I am handling it pretty well. I hope that you guys are just as excited as I am! See you guys pretty soon!

Too Much Love, Not Enough Time Part. 8

Miguel wonders about Yolanda’s resistance to alcohol. “I had an older brother. He was the life of the party and when I was 18, he gave me something to drink. I didn’t know that it was alcohol. I felt loose. We played games and stuff. Then late at night. I blacked out. When I woke up the next day, I noticed blood on the basement staircase. I went downstairs and found my older brother laying in a pool of blood. I called the ambulance and they rushed him to the hospital. They pronounced him dead. The autopsy report ruled it as suicide. I told myself ‘if only you didn’t have that drink, you could have saved him’.” Yolanda said opening up about her dark past. “I see.” Miguel said, “I’m sorry for your loss and I’m sorry for pressuring you to drink.” Miguel faces deep emotions about the story. “It’s okay. You didn’t know.” she said. “But still.” Miguel said. “Don’t worry about it. You can’t blame yourself for not knowing.” she said.

“I guess so.” he said softly. After the movies, Diana wanted a sleepover. “Come on guys. Let’s sleepover.” Diana said. “I have work tomorrow and so do you, Diana.” Yolanda said. “Please?” Diana said. “No Diana. I don’t even have clothes.” Yolanda said. Miguel gets ready to go. “Yolanda is right. We should get going.” Miguel said putting on his pair of shoes. “I’m sleeping over.” Antonio said. “I got to get home.” Miguel said. “I can… drive you home…” Yolanda said shyly. Miguel was shocked by what she said. “I’ll take you up on that.” Miguel said with a smile. Yolanda gets ready at the front door. Let’s go, Miguel. “Okay.” he said. They get in Yolanda’s car. He puts on his seatbelt as Yolanda turns her car on. She puts on her seatbelt. She puts the car in reverse to get out of Diana’s driveway. Once she was out of the driveway, she puts her car in drive and drives off. They talk as Miguel gives her directions to his place.

She stops in front of a fancy apartment complex. “Wow.” she said quietly. (So he makes a lot of money. All from bartending?) she thinks. “Well, I will see you later, Yolanda. I have to get up early.” he said. “Okay, same here.” she said. He gets out of the car and then he walks in the lobby. Yolanda drives off. Miguel goes to his apartment. He looks at the clock. “Okay. I have to get ready for bed. The restaurant may need to go in a new direction. So that means that I need to stay away from bartending for a while. I am the restaurant owner. I need to start acting like it. It’s all my Nana’s legacy.” he said out loud to himself.  (I got to conspire a new marketing strategy.) he thinks. He takes a shower and goes to bed.

Too Much Love, Not Enough Time Part. 7

Diana and Antonio were shocked nu what they saw. “You two know each other?” Diana and Antonio ask. “Yeah.” Miguel said. Yolanda feels slightly embarrassed. Diana looks at Yolanda’s flushed face. “Well, Yolanda?” Diana said with a slight tease. “Is this the man I heard so much about?” Diana asks. Yolanda covers her face and nods her head “yes”. Miguel looks at Yolanda’s embarrassment. (This is quite cute.) he thinks. “Well, nice to meet you.” Diana said, “I’m Diana. Yolanda’s friend and co-worker. I am also Antonio’s girlfriend. “Pleased to meet you. I’m Miguel. I’m a bartender at Yolanda’s favorite restaurant.” Miguel said politely. Diana is captivated by Miguel’s voice. (Wow, he sounds like he can be a voice actor or something.) she thinks.

He smiles at them to calm his nervousness. “Well, let’s party.” Antonio said. “What kind of games do you have there?” Miguel asks. “Just some Call of Duty.” he said. “Is there anything competitive?” both Miguel and Yolanda ask. They look at each other. Yolanda quickly looks away and Miguel laughs at her embarrassment. “Like what?” Antonio said. “I don’t know maybe fighting games.” Yolanda said sarcastically. “No. Just Call of Duty.” Antonio said. “Well… I figured you would just bring that so I brought some fighting games over.” Miguel said. “You did?” Yolanda said. “Yes, I did.” Miguel responded, “Care to play me in Street Fighter?” “Do you have all of the downloadable content?” Yolanda asks. “Yep. It has everything.” Miguel said. “Well, let’s play!” Yolanda said excitedly.

They crowd around the Playstation. Miguel finds the game and puts it into the gaming system. Miguel hands Yolanda the controller. “Are you ready to face me?” Yolanda asks. “The real question is: Are you?” Miguel asks. Yolanda takes it as a threat. “Oh okay.” she said. Miguel laughs. They skip the intro and go straight to character select. They selected their characters and ended up playing. Yolanda wins a couple of matches. (I’m going to embarrass this guy.) she thinks. (She’s pretty good. However, she doesn’t possess the skills to defeat me.) Miguel thinks. Miguel begins to go on a winning streak. “What the hell?” Yolanda said getting angry. “It’s okay to take a breather.” Miguel teased. “No!” Yolanda said now angry.

“I’ll show you.” she said. They play a couple more matches. (She’s an emotional fighter. She plays better when she’s mad. This is so cute.) he thinks, (Still can’t beat me though.) After playing, they watched movies and have some wine. “Do you drink, Yolanda?” Miguel asks when he saw her with water. “No.” Yolanda said, “I haven’t had a drink since 2005.” Diana notices Yolanda opening up. (Could he be the one?) she thinks.
